NHS England reveals its agenda ahead of July board meeting
NHS England has released the topics of discussion for their 4 July public board meeting at Skipton House in London.
The board will focus on reducing ineffective and wasteful clinical procedures, primary care reform, GP services, the NHS Five Year Forward View, and discuss several reports.
NHS England’s national director of operations and information, Matthew Swindells, will be giving an update on GP practices, a topic which was widely discussed at the last board meeting in May.
May’s report revealed that GP referrals to hospital dropped after a four year growth. It also found that 55% of patients gained access to extended evening and weekend GP services, predicted to reach 100% by the end of October ahead of its target.
A report released by CQC at the end of last month shows that the majority of walk-in and urgent care centres and GP out-of-hours services in England are rated good or outstanding.
The second progress report from the Empowering People and Communities Taskforce will build on their February report which gave an overview of public participation practice.
The taskforce was set up in December 2017 to strengthen the ‘Next Steps on the Forward View’ in relation to people, patients and the voluntary sector.
NHS England’s plan to discuss wasteful clinical procedure is likely to further outline its new Patient Online services.
In the May report the organisation found that 14 million people are registered to Patient Online and are able to access repeat prescriptions, book appointments and view their records online.
