Flexible NHS development tool launched

A simplified and more flexible Knowledge and Skills Framework has been developed and published by the NHS Staff Council to help NHS staff in their appraisals.

The Knowledge and Skills Framework is the career and pay progression strand of Agenda for Change.

Karen Jennings, Unison’s head of health, said: “Six years after we agreed the Knowledge and Skills Framework for all NHS workers, there are still around one third of staff who get no annual appraisal and no personal development plan.

“Trusts that fail their staff in this way run the risk of failing patients as well. This simplified version of the KSF will allow trusts that have not extended this scheme to all their staff to learn from the best practice of others and ensure their workforce is developed and motivated to deliver the best patient care.”
