Citizens must play key part in healthcare, says Turning Point
Health and social care charity Turning Point has said that citizen involvement will play in a key part in the success of healthcare, as part of the government’s Health Watch.
Citizen advisors will inform and target health services to local needs.
Turning Point’s Chief Executive, Lord Victor Adebowale commented: “This approach provides a blueprint for making people more active participants in how their public services are run. The proposed ‘Citizen Advisors’ approach brings to life the principles of the Big Society which are central to recent Government reforms.
“In making Health Watch a reality, the government could adopt such a model to ensure local citizens are empowered to access and choose the services they need.”
