Former Notts deputy CEO takes on new role as chief executive of troubled King's Lynn trust
Former deputy chief executive and chief operating officer at a Nottingham trust Caroline Shaw will join on as CEO of the troubled Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust (QEH), it has been announced.
Shaw, who is currently in her role at Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust, is a well-known and respected leader in the health service, and will have a steep task on her hands as the FT has faced a series of poor reports from the health inspectorate, and was placed back into special measures in September— just three years after being removed from the category by the CQC.
The new CEO started her career in the NHS as a nurse before moving into midwifery, and has more than 30 years’ leadership experience working at trusts in areas such as Leicester, Manchester, and Nottingham.
QEH chairman Professor Steve Barnet said: “We are delighted with this appointment. We are very fortunate to have attracted someone of Caroline’s calibre to take our organisation forward.
“Caroline has a proven track record of continuously improving organisations and getting results. She is passionate about transformation and has an unwavering focus on improving patient and staff experience.”
Speaking of her appointment, Shaw said: “I very much look forward to joining team QEH and getting to know the organisation and its staff and I’m excited about leading the organisation on its journey of improvement.
“I’m passionate about creating the right culture and conditions for building a happy workforce and always putting patients first.”
