Jobs to go at NHS England
NHS England is to cut hundreds of managerial jobs in an effort to cut running costs by 15%, according to its chief executive, Simon Stevens.
Reports suggest that cuts – of between 500 and 800 posts – will be focused on more senior staff.
There are 280 people at NHS England earning six-figure salaries, according to the Telegraph, of its 6,000 employees.
In a staff briefing, Stevens explained the need to cut running costs, but promised to “minimise redundancies” where possible.
The NHS has already paid out £600,000 in redundancy payments associated with the previous restructuring.
