Monitor to investigate Bradford trust

Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS FT is under investigation by Monitor to determine whether the organisation is in breach of its licence.

The CQC raised concerns in relation to staffing levels, and Monitor will now examine whether this indicates wider issues with the trust.

Robert Davidson, regional director for the North at Monitor, said: “We have decided to open an investigation at the Trust to find out whether it is operating in breach of its licence.

“We will take a very close look at the issues highlighted by the CQC as well as the Trust’s performance and how it is being run. We will take regulatory action if required.”

Monitor has also agreed a package of new regulatory measures with Heatherwood and Wexham Park NHS Foundation Trust.

This includes an action plan to tackle inadequate nursing care and poor hygiene standards, the appointment of an Improvement Director, and external support to help deliver these outcomes.
