Monitor to investigate Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys Trust

Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS FT is being investigated by Monitor to see if it is breaching its licence conditions.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) recently issued the trust with a warning notice for failing to meet standards in respecting and involving people who use the services. Monitor will examine whether these issues are indicative of governance problems at the trust.

Yvonne Mowlds, regional director at Monitor, said: “The investigation we are launching today is another example of how we are working closely with the CQC to protect the interests of patients. The CQC highlighted an issue with the care patients are receiving and we are now asking the trust to explain what they are doing to put things right.

“Patients expect to see their services run well and by investigating at this early stage we can make sure that the trusts are able to address any issues quickly and effectively.”
