New healthcare centre for Nottingham

Work has begun on a new healthcare facility in Nottingham. The new primary care centre will include an integrated pharmacy and the £4m project is due for completion in September 2013.

The building will include photovoltaic panels and will be constructed with an ‘excellent’ BREEAM rating for energy use.

The nearby Highcroft surgery will relocate to the new premises once the building is complete. The project has been funded by stakeholders Gelding Borough Council, NHS Nottinghamshire County and County Health Partnerships and developed by MedicX.

Dr Philip Gard, senior partner, Highcroft Surgery, said: “We are very excited about the new health centre and the fantastic facilities that it will offer. This is a provision that local people desperately need and it’s great to see construction beginning. We look forward to moving in next year and being able to offer an improved environment for the provision of healthcare services.”

Councillor Michael Payne, deputy leader of Gedling Borough Council, said: "We are delighted to see this project enter the construction stage and look forward to its completion next year.

“This project marks a significant step in the regeneration of Arnold town centre and the development of healthcare provision in the town. We are all excited to see the benefits this new building will bring.”
