Radiographer struck off for making false overtime claims

Radiographer Ashok Mahadik has been struck off for falsely inflating claims for overtime on 42 occasions whilst he was working at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust.

A panel of the Health Professions Council (HPC) conduct and competence committee heard how Mahadik’s overtime amounted to approximately 132.5 hours – £8,490.

Mahadik authorised extra hours himself by working outside his contracted working hours.

Panel chairman Collin Allies said: “There is no evidence to suggest that the Registrant has had any insight into his conduct.

“The Registrant held a position of trust, particularly in relation to his junior employee. The Panel also considered the public interest and in particular the need to uphold proper standards of behaviour and maintain public confidence in the professions.”

The panel struck Mahadik from the HPC register, with an interim suspension order made to cover the appeal period.

Mahadik was neither present nor represented at the hearing.
