Revalidation consultation wins approval
NHS Employers has indicated that it supports the findings of the GMC review into revalidation.
Bill McMillan, head of medical pay and workforce at NHS Employers, said: “The GMC consultation response calls for a process that is simplified and straightforward, and NHS organisations have told us that they welcome this approach.
“It is essential that the system put in place is effective and proportionate but is also cost-effective, flexible and does not place excessive burden on either organisations or doctors.
“NHS organisations are keen to build on the work they have already done to be sure an effective system of revalidation is in place by late 2012.
“As part of this, organisations will continue working with the GMC, the BMA and the government so that preparations are able to move forward from the design phase to delivery of an effective system.”
