Stop smoking contract extended for Coventry
Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership Trust has been awarded a two-year contract to deliver Stop Smoking in Pregnancy and Stop Smoking Services for the area.
The trust will continue to deliver free support to help people quit. The contract is in response to a recent tendering process run by Coventry City Council.
Natalie Hutton, healthy lifestyle manager at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, said: “We are delighted to have been successful in securing contracts that enable us to continue the delivery of stop smoking services in Coventry.
“Over the past four years, we have been successful in supporting smokers across Coventry to become smoke free. Our support is invaluable in helping smokers to stop for good and improve their health and lifestyle.
“We do understand that it isn’t easy to give up smoking, but with the right support that is designed to meet individuals’ needs, the chances of quitting will increase and people are able to quit for good.”
Cllr Joe Clifford, chair of Coventry’s Smoke Free Alliance, said: “The health and wellbeing of people in Coventry is a key priority for Coventry City Council and I’ve been really impressed with the approach that Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust have taken in helping Coventry people to give up smoking.
“It is so important to continue our efforts to tackle what regrettably still remains the largest cause of premature death particularly in Coventry and I know how difficult it is for some people to stop smoking.
“The health, financial and social benefits that are gained by individuals who choose to give up smoking are endless and we are confident that these two-year contracts, designed to support people give up the habit, will help reduce the number of smokers in Coventry.”
