Support group secures £32m Norfolk and Waveney contract

NHS Arden and Greater East Midlands (GEM) CSU has been awarded the contract to provide support services for five CCGs in Norfolk and Waveney.

The £32m contract went out to tender and was decided by the NHS England Lead Provider Framework (LPF). The CCGs involved include North Norfolk, South Norfolk, West Norfolk, Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Waveney.

The service falls under two categories: end to end commissioning support and IT support. End to end support will also include procurement and provider management, finance, HR, information governance and freedom of information.

John Parkes, managing director, NHS Arden & GEM CSU, said: “We are delighted to have secured this opportunity to work alongside Norfolk and Waveney CCGs.

“Our team is looking forward to working with the CCGs and our aim will be to ‘add value’ by providing high quality, flexible and responsive commissioning support services.”

The management of the service will be overseen by a dedicated regional director, expected to have previous NHS leadership experience. The service will be fully operational from April 2018.

Current providers North East London (NEL) CSU will work with the newly contracted organisations to hand over operations.
