NHS finances
Source: Concerned health service worker (name supplied)
I am always frustrated when we discuss the NHS and its finances. The NHS has no money due to very poor management over the last few years. IT systems that are useless; PFIs; reorganisation after reorganisation; new and more regulatory bodies; shadow organisations whilst old ones take a year to disestablish; premises sold cheaply to developers; poor tendering – the list could go on and on.
This is our money – taxpayer money – and [now there is] yet more distress for the ordinary person – hikes in taxes; loss of jobs (usually front line); takeover firms (at great cost); charging for some services; yet we continue on the vein that seems to have got us into more debt.
The NHS has improved in many ways – we are more technical and the advances in care are fantastic. It is over-managed and over-processed, and the future will continue to be grim if we continue to follow failing policies – just like banking and just like the EU etc.
