Calculating the cuts

Even though NHS London has denied that the reductions revealed in a new report are actually proposals for implementation rather than theoretical modelling, the idea that other factors could be more important than just numbers does have some truth to it.

If there are a large number of nurses delivering a poor standard of care, this scenario will hold no advantage over one in which the level of nurses is higher.

Cutting is not the same thing as saving, yet if these forecasts include all areas of the trusts making optimum use of their resources, then this is not such a blatant attack on nurses as it has been portrayed.
