Coping with chronic diseases
The number of patients with co-morbidity is on the increase, especially for the elderly and those who live in deprived areas, and the NHS may not be prepared to provide effective coordinated care.
A greater understanding of the wider picture of health and how diseases interact could help organisations to focus on the individual, rather than on separate health issues.
This would help to alleviate stress on the patient’s behalf as they do not have to struggle to navigate a complicated system of care to address their various health problems.
