Healthy progress
The fact that stroke and heart attack emergency admissions have fallen over the past decade – while great news – is down to the public living healthier lifestyles and taking responsibility for their health, as opposed to NHS effectiveness.
Perhaps the NHS can claim this is due to a greater level of awareness, borne about through health professionals relaying important guidance to their patients.
It is certainly true that death rates following these admissions has fallen, and this is due to improvements of care within the NHS.
Regardless, it is a refreshing change to hear of health improvements, especially during a time when the NHS is faced with future cuts and major restructuring.
