More than enough
Cutting costs without affecting services is a difficult task indeed. Add to this the confusing shake-up that is the new Health & Social Care Bill and the health service is presented with a huge challenge.
Of course it is argued that the reforms will help to achieve the savings the NHS is so desperately trying to make.
But until these are agreed upon, and more importantly, implemented, it is one more thing to contend with at a time when healthcare professionals have more than enough to do.
Recent criticism from the Heath Committee, following unions representing nurses, midwives and doctors, could provide a substantial challenge to the Bill. It is worrying indeed that after all this time, there is still such opposition to the proposed changes.
Is the Government trying to do too much at once?
