New health centre for Anfield

A new £6m neighbourhood health centre has just opened in Anfield, as part of Liverpool PCT’s wider vision for a ‘New Health Service for Liverpool’.

The centre will make services available closer to people’s homes, and two local GP practices have moved into the new building. The development was delivered by Liverpool and Sefton Health Partnership (LSHP) and the NHS LIFT forLiverpooland Sefton.

Graham Pink, chief executive of LSHP, said: “Townsend Laneis our latest successful development, and the latest of seven new neighbourhood centres to open which serve communities acrossLiverpool.

“The centre will provide members of the local community with a modern, friendly and easily accessible healthcare facility located close to where they live. We hope that it will prove a real asset for local residents for many years to come.”

Gideon Ben-Tovim, chair of Liverpool PCT, said: “The feedback we have already had from patients has been overwhelmingly positive and the centre has already become an integral part of the community.”

Liverpool PCT is also currently working on a second Anfield Neighbourhood Health Centre at nearbyMere Lane, as well as a new centre in Kensington. Brand new facilities have already opened in Everton, Breeze Close, Picton, Yewtree,Oriel Drive, Speke, Garston, and Childwall.
