No time for heroes
Is it time for a new style of leadership within the NHS?
The King’s Fund has proposed that the traditional, individualistic and dramatic model of leadership should be replaced more engagement, perpetuated throughout all levels of the workplace.
Encouraging a more collaborative approach in the NHS would benefit both patients and staff alike.
The new report seeks to demonstrate that engagement is not just a fancy term for a fluffy concept; it can have significant, tangible results on outcomes, finance and satisfaction.
These could be best achieved through a more diluted style of leadership, with more people involved in contributing, rather than a single individual saving the day. When leadership is embedded within an organisation, the results could be incredible.
