The new toolkit from the RCP could help to ensure patients are in the right environment for their needs. Identifying the necessary level of care for each individual is critical to providing an efficient service with quality treatment.
The care pathway through medical units and wards can be a significant challenge to manage, particularly as demand continues to increase.
To hit efficiency targets, but still provide excellent care, trusts must improve the way they identify seriously ill patients and transport them to more appropriate beds.
