Crown Commercial Service plans £800m health IT framework
Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has published an open opportunity procurement notice as it looks to establish a new framework agreement worth up to £800m, covering the development and support of IT and data management systems by NHS Digital and other health and social care organisations within the public sector.
The four-year-framework will start from late January 2021 and is listed as suitable for SMEs, with bids for the framework to be submitted by September 24, 2020.
Five service areas are set to be covered by the framework:
- DevOps Services
- Digital Definition Services
- Build and Transition Services
- End-to-End Development Services
- Data Management (and Similar) Services
The Government Digital Service’s agile project lifecycle defines three of the five identified areas of the upcoming framework.
Digital definition services will focus on early discovery and alpha development projects, while DevOps covers development and operations support for services already live. Build and transition services will cover beta and retirement phases.
Meanwhile, end-to-end development services will cover all phases of the project, while data management and similar services will primarily look towards data asset building, enhancement and maintenance, data migration between systems and analysis and reporting from data assets.
According to a prior information notice published by CCS, the framework is expected to include around 12 suppliers in the framework, allowing NHS Digital to develop strategic relationships with them over time.
