Dodgy practice?
Medical professionals have been promoting the need to reorganise hospital services for some time now, in an attempt to improve quality of care and cut costs during a time of severe financial pressure.
But new evidence suggests an independent report into hospital reorganisation inWaleswas anything but. With correspondence between the author and NHS Wales officials revealed, some have called into question the independence of this particular research – though all concerned have stressed it was produced completely independently.
Public resistance to hospital reform remains, and it provides an easy basis for the opposition to condemn government on. So are the Conservatives, and other political opponents, right to suggest that any contact between the two parties necessarily equates to an element of bias in the report?
