Equal access
The new national Cancer Drugs Fund should help people all over the country get more equal access to vital medicines that are generally unavailable on the local NHS.
A single list of approved drugs makes more sense; people suffer from cancer throughout the UK, and restricting access to drugs is, as NHS England points out, unacceptable.
There is already significant concern over the ‘postcode lottery’ of NHS services, and treatments available in different regions and areas. This could be a strong step forward for patients everywhere.
