Health centre gains outstanding review after a year in operation
A £3 million health centre has proved immensely popular after its first year with 97% of people rating it ‘good’ or ‘excellent’.
The West Lancashire Health Centre, based at Ormskirk and District General Hospital, offers pre-booked and drop-in GP services, drop-in advice and treatment for minor injuries and NHS dentistry, all seven days a week.
Acting centre manager and clinical lead nurse Christine Bruce said: “Staff have received thank you cards and letters as well as many positive comments about both the service and the centre. All in all this has been an interesting and challenging year but there is no doubt that it has been a successful one and we will continue to provide a high quality service in the future.”
More than 20,000 people have used the GP and minor injury service since the health centre opened in January last year.
West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper, who cut the ribbon last year, said: “Since the centre opened I have encouraged people to make use of its services and will continue to do so. I thank all the staff at the centre for all their hard work in these first 12 months to get the centre operating and for making it successful.”
