New data from the NHS Partners Network suggests that independent providers are amongst the very best when it comes to hip and knee replacements.
This could provide food for thought for many who rail against the privatisation of the NHS – the independent sector offers high improvement in quality of life for patients, with significantly lower readmission rates than the NHS average, without patients themselves having to foot the bill.
As independent sector provision of such surgery becomes more and more common, will this trend continue upwards? If it does, what will this mean for the wider NHS?
