Knowledge exchange
As the private sector becomes more and more a part of the NHS, it will be essential for staff to learn to manage this collaboration and ensure they have the skills in place to secure effective partnerships and drive forward improvements.
The NHS Leadership Academy programme has taken a step towards this goal, introducing knowledge sharing secondments into their fellowships.
Many will be wary about tipping the level of knowledge too far in the direction of the private sector – there must be a real exchange of value to make this work.
On the other hand, such partnerships could serve to diffuse some of the trust issues between public and private sectors, to the benefit of both.
