Money, money, money
The suggestion that the public should pay more in taxes to support the NHS through a time of increasing difficulty is certainly an interesting one.
But is more money really the answer? Surely if Government decided that the NHS desperately needed a higher level of funding, due to the impact on services, the best move would be to reduce the target of the £20bn efficiency savings, rather than spend more money only to save it.
Greater funding would obviously improve services and reduce the occurrence of rationing. Yet deciding whether this is realistic enough to be implemented in a time of austerity across the country, not just the NHS, is a different matter.
The NHS must work to improve its efficiency with the resources it already has, rather than throwing money at the problem.
