More or less?
17 NHS hospitals have “unsafe” staffing levels, the CQC has reported. Several mental health trusts and the London Ambulance Service were also highlighted as in need of improvement.
Adequate staffing is vitally important if trusts are to ensure they avoid the sorts of failings and shockingly low standards of care that have been so widely publicised in care homes and hospitals.
Staffing was identified as a key area for concern – something that will put the Government in a difficult position. They must now try to explain how, if there are so many more doctors and nurses working for the NHS than under the opposition, staff are too busy and overworked to notice when patients are desperately trying to gain attention for the most basic of needs.
