NHS Forth Valley appoint new chairwoman

NHS Forth Valley have appointed Janie McCusker to serve as the trust’s new chairwoman, replacing the outgoing Alex Linkston.

Ms McCusker currently serves as the chairwoman of the Glasgow Colleges Regional Board and had a lengthy 22-year career serving with the Royal Air Force.

Chief Executive of NHS Forth Valley, Cathie Cowan, said: “I am delighted that Janie McCusker has been appointed as our new Chair.

“She has a strong track record in governance, finance and planning as well as building relationships and influencing change across the public and private sectors.”

Scottish Health Secretary, Jeane Freeman, added: “Janie has extensive leadership experience at national and international levels, following 22 years’ service with the Royal Air Force and a term of office with UNICEF. She is also the current Chair of the Glasgow Colleges Regional Board.

“With this background I’m confident that under her direction, NHS Forth Valley will continue to provide a high level of care for those in the local area, and I look forward to working with her in the months ahead.”

Ms McCusker will take up the new role from March 1, 2020 when she replaces the current Chair of NHS Forth Valley Mr Linkston, whose term ends at the end of February 2020.
