Patients must be our focus
There has been a lot of talk about what is going to happen to staff whilst the NHS is reformed, but surprisingly little about the effect it will have on patients.
It seems that many people are too caught up in the mechanics of it all – and especially around what will happen to their jobs – rather than actually looking at whether putting clinicians in charge of healthcare commissioning will help patients.
I know that there have been surveys of doctors, which have indicated not - but you can get survey results to say whatever you like. It is just a matter of asking the right questions to the right people.
So why not have a survey asking patients what they think?
