Prevention, detection and treatment
It is World Cancer Day today, and although its supporters’ claims that there is still awareness to raise around cancer is debatabable, the highlighting of the latest prevention and treatment methods is very welcome.
This year the focus is on skin cancers and staying safe in the sun, which is a laudable topic but perhaps February is not the best time of year to get that message out there in Britain.
Anyone who hasn’t should read today’s Guinness World Record-breaking article by cancer survivor Chris Geiger, published in 400 global newspapers including, for example, the Calgary Herald:

It’s a frank but positive account with a real call-to-arms, made all the more topics by Cancer Research UK’s figures today showing the rising number of women getting breast cancer.
