Still fighting
The strength of feeling in the opposition to NHS reforms and the increasing use of privatisation is evident today as the new political party National Health Action prepares to name its targets for the 2015 election.
The party’s very existence will serve as a serious reminder to Government, and particularly the Department of Health, that there is still substantial controversy over the direction the NHS is heading in.
Perhaps the Government sought to be free of such opposition with the replacement of Andrew Lansley and the appointment of new health secretary Jeremy Hunt, but it seems as if there will still be battles to fight over the costs and benefits of privatisation.
