The big question – why are we here?
It has been a question which has plagued man ever since the dawn of time and now it plagues the NHS.
Why, or perhaps what is the health service here to do?
Well, there’s a clue in the name, in my opinion. It is here to keep people healthy and to fix them when they are broken.
However, it seems to provide many services, which to me, seem to be an absolutely scandalous waste of money. At a time when the NHS is cutting back on the most basic of resources – including countless clinical staff – and denying patients cancer drugs, why does it insist on providing things like IVF treatment (when there are thousands of babies in need of adoption) and frivolous plastic surgery.
I am sorry, but if some vain parent wants to pin their poor, unloved child’s ears back then thy should pay for it themselves.
