The elderly deserve the best
Only a fool thinks that cutting services for the elderly is a soft option – after all, we will all be old one day and who knows what our circumstances might be.
Aside from these selfish interests the elderly deserve our care and respect – it is the mark a civilized society to care for its old.
However, it is important that we do not lumber an entire generation with the cost of providing for another, as this is unfair and will only feed resentment – especially if the young feel that they are paying for older people who simply were not prudent enough to provide for themselves.
This means that a compromise must be reached between those who benefit from care and those who pay for that care.
