Foundation trusts must do more to ensure their board meetings are open and transparent, the FTGA has stated.
FTs must run open board meetings from April 1, but there are still over a fifth which are not yet doing so. Time is growing short for them to rectify this, and even for those who are running open meetings, there is variation in the level of transparency and regularity of meetings.
More guidance from the FTGA in this area will be crucial, and it is wise that the association has not left it till the deadline to check how trusts are coping with this expectation.
Such monitoring should help enable all FT’s to achieve a consistent level of effective, open board meetings.
