Together or apart?
It seems as if a new commission or forum is launched every day to help the NHS improve care in one specific area or another.
In itself this is no bad thing, as the more intelligent minds we have working on these problems, the greater the chance of arriving at workable solutions to some of the thorniest challenges and ideas that can influence policy and change practice, for the better.
But without collaboration between these groups, the thinking, no matter how brilliant, will remain fragmented. This makes it more difficult to provide a joined-up driving force to actually implement change.
It also means time and resources are being spent to solve similar problems, repeated from a range of different viewpoints. If they are concentrating on the same aim, presenting a united front could help deliver this faster.
