Unqualified success
The smoking ban has been an “unqualified public health success”, new analysis indicates. The study has shown a decrease in hospital admissions for children with asthma since 2007.
This counters concern that the ban in public spaces could have led to an increase of smoking in homes, thus putting children in even greater danger.
It will also bolster campaigning against smoking, with demonstrable health benefits, particularly for children.
It is difficult to continue to argue against measures to control and minimise smoking when the consequences of introducing these are so significant.
