We need your Health Heroes!

We are once again delighted to be the official media partner for the Our Health Heroes Awards, working alongside Skills for Health to celebrate those in our healthcare workforce who go above and beyond the call of duty.

It’s important that the fantastic contributions healthcare workers are making across the UK every day don’t go unnoticed. Working on the frontline of patient care, they are the reason hospitals, trusts, care homes, day centres and more are running smoothly.

Last year, Skills for Health received over 500 nominations for outstanding Support Workers across the UK, so, to celebrate even more outstanding contributors, this year there are three brand new categories, Apprentice of the Year, Integrated Team of the Year and Workforce Planning Team of the Year.

You’ve already been nominating in your hundreds for this year’s Awards but there is still plenty of time left if you haven’t put forward your vote for healthcare superstar yet.

About the new categories

Apprentice of the Year 2017

Sponsored by The Open University, the Apprentice category is looking for someone that is a proactive member of their team, has a positive outlook on their role, makes an impact on their organisation and is a role model for other apprentices. After the nominations close, a shortlist will be decided and the public vote will open to pick the national winners.

Workforce Planning Team of the Year 2017

Skills for Health is looking for a team that demonstrates excellence in Workforce Planning. Sponsored by NHS England, the award asks nominees to have an innovative planning solution, a sustainable approach and a robust process. Gold, Silver and Bronze teams will be decided by a panel and announced at the ceremony.

Integrated Team of the Year 2017

The third new category, sponsored by NHS Improvement, demands a team with an integrated process that improves patient care and experience, has a positive impact on their organisation and has a clear understanding of challenges in the sector. Again, Gold, Silver and Bronze placements will be decided by the panel and announced in November.

At NHE, we think the Our Health Heroes Awards are a fantastic cause and we want to encourage as many nominations as possible to celebrate the fantastic work our healthcare workforce is doing every day.

Do you think you know someone that fits one of these categories? You have until 15 September to get nominations in. For more information and to access the nomination portal, visit: skillsforhealth.org.uk/ohh-2017
