Paramedic struck off from HPC register

Paramedic Shaun Clarke has been struck off the Health Professions Council (HPC) for misconduct. Clarke failed to declare convictions, failed to adhere to sign on for shifts and fell asleep whilst on duty.

Clarke did not sign on for his shifts for one week, and although he was at work, colleague would not necessarily be aware that he was available to be rostered for duty. Additionally, Clarke failed to declare police cautions from 2007 and 2008, which breaches the HPC standard that you must provide any important information about your conduct and competence.

Panel Chair Ian Crookall commented: “The Panel notes that Mr Clarke had amassed seven convictions and cautions in a four year period. Mr Clarke has embarked on a course of conduct which in the Panel’s view was deliberate and demonstrates a disregard for the rule of law.

“Mr Clarke did not express any significant regret, remorse or insight for his conduct. The Panel is satisfied that Mr Clarke’s current fitness to practise is impaired by reason of his convictions and cautions”.

Clarke was not present or represented at the hearing.
