£300m capital fund provides CT scanner for Barnsley
The first piece of equipment has been purchased through the £300m capital fund provided by NHS Supply Chain and the Department of Health.
The fund aims to provide cost and sourcing savings through purchasing high value equipment in bulk.
Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has become the first to benefit from the fund, and has purchased a computed tomography (CT) scanner, in response to increased usage of their existing scanner.
Neil McConville, supplies manager at the trust said: “Planning capital equipment purchases through NHS Supply Chain presents several benefits for our trust. Not only does it simplify the procurement process, but more importantly it enables our clinical teams to focus on product evaluations rather than the timely and costly procurement process.”
