Rotherham chief executive replaced
The chief executive of Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust has been removed and replaced as part of restructuring plans at the trust.
Michael Morgan is the new interim chief executive, replacing Matthew Lowry.
The chairman of the trust’s board, Peter Lee, wrote a letter to staff describing the need for an “immediate reduction in the number of executive directors”.
In October, the trust proposed to cut 750 jobs to save £50m by 2015. The IT system will also be reviewed and the ward closure programme announced last year would be paused.
He said the board had “identified a number of significant issues of operational and financial performance that it believes must be addressed as a matter of urgency”.
The letter also stated a reassurance to staff that the trust was able to “meet all payroll and creditor obligations”.
