From: Siobhain O’Donnell
Subject: Job cuts

We all understand the need for efficiency savings but surely the decision not to replace a clinician who leaves or retires must be properly risk assessed to ensure that patient care is not compromised. It should not be based on financial considerations alone.

It would be useful to investigate the link between poor care, as reported by the CQC and the Patients’ Association, and the tendency to depend on unregistered staff to deliver the bulk of care previously delivered by nurses, as well as staffing levels in general at clinical level.
