Shock treatmen
We are all aware at some level that prevention is better than cure and investing in public health now, as well as good management of existing conditions, will save a lot of time, money and suffering in the future.
Yet knowing this and being motivated to act on it are two very different things. Perhaps the latest report on the rapidly increasing costs of diabetes will serve to shock both the health service and its users into taking the threat seriously.
Many of the predicted costs could be avoided if preventative measures were taken now.
Diabetes looks set to turn into a major problem for the NHS as well as for the public themselves, if something is not done to mitigate its increase. Communicating the message is no longer enough; we must embed preventative recommendations into a more healthy lifestyle, throughout theUK.
