Voices unheard
An e-petition calling for the Health & Social Care Bill to be scrapped has been dismissed as a candidate for Parliamentary debate, despite having over 160,000 signatures.
Although the new initiative to raise topics for discussion by collecting enough signatures never offered a guarantee, it is disappointing that such an obviously contentious issue is being ignored.
Of course the MPs on the committee are right in that a significant amount of time already has been spent debating the Bill, with more yet to come when it returns from the House of Lords.
But teasing public with the ability to have a tangible influence on policy and then not delivering is more frustrating than being denied this power at all.
