Halt and delay
Judicial reviews of Government policy and decisions can be used to demonstrate significant strength of opposition, or it can be used to buy time for further campaigning to take place.
This is exactly what the Children’s Heart Federation has accused campaign group Save Our Surgery of doing.
Word is that the group plans to halt their judicial review in order to stretch out delays for as long as possible, with the aim of such tactics to see the proposed changes scrapped, and the surgery units to remain open in Leeds.
Closing such units is an extremely sensitive topic, and many parents are understandably concerned about having to travel further for their children’s surgery, regardless of the higher standard of that care.
Is the campaign group really playing with politics in order to keep their cause in the headlines for as long as possible?
