Little changes, big rewards
Evidence-based changes to the hospital environment are now being implemented, to improve care for patients with dementia.
In many cases, small additions or alterations to the space in which dementia sufferers are cared for can make a huge difference to their mental wellbeing.
Images that help patients to remember their past can be extremely enriching, and eliminating potential factors which have been shown to exacerbate confusion and even panic, are equally as important.
More and more people are developing dementia, and our care system needs to keep pace with this demand, providing the very best environments possible to keep patients safe and calm.
When studies and trials indicate such positive results, it is essential that this research translates into practice.
