Looking forward
The publication of Sir Bruce Keogh’s review into failing trusts has quickly descended into a game of political ping-pong, where each party blames the other for all the problems that have ever developed in the NHS.
Health professionals have urged for the focus to remain on quality, and how it can be recovered, rather than using the results of the review as ammunition.
There must be ownership of the failings that have emerged in each trust, and new rules will stop managers responsible for this from finding new jobs in the NHS. But the point of recognising problems in governance and culture and management is to move forward, and to ensure that these mistakes are never repeated.
