Overworked
The way the working time regulations are being implemented could be adversely affecting trainee doctors, new research from the GMC indicates.
Apart from disrupting their training and patient care, working for so many hours can damage junior doctors’ ability to perform to the highest standard and maintain the necessary level of quality.
How can working rotas be managed so these issues are resolved? The NHS must consider how to strike the right balance between limiting overwork and potential risk and meeting patient demand and gaining necessary experience.
