Perceptions need to change
The recent Civitas report makes interesting reading.
Whilst it would be easy to criticize the NHS staff accused of spurning private sector providers, it is also easy to see why it has happened.
The NHS has been put on a pedestal with an aura around it, so that the doctors and nurses within it feel that they are almost angelic, with private sector providers being the evil capitalists waiting to beat down the doors at the first chance.
This is obviously not the case and these perceptions need to change if the NHS is to move forward into the future. It doesn’t matter who provides the care, as long as it is of the highest quality and free at point of need.
