Plugging the gap
Many have criticised the Government for its slow reaction to dealing with the social care funding gap, with reform now only likely to be implemented after 2015, following a spending review.
For campaigners and of course the elderly who will be affected, change is needed now.
Further news of a breakdown in talks between the Government and opposition could present significant damage to long-term policy which requires cross-party consensus.
Only committed discussion will provide a feasible answer to the social care funding problem, and ensure those in need will receive quality care in the future.
This is not an issue that can so easily be brushed aside, and must take priority in the Government’s policy-making process.
